What services do you offer?

Furry Little Rascals specialise in dog walking, dog home visits, cat and small animal home visits, but are happy to discuss other services on an individual basis, e.g. pet sitting or pet taxi services.

How do I go about booking a dog walk or pet visit?

Simply get in touch and we’ll call right back to discuss your requirements. Next we will arrange to visit you and your pet in your home for a free initial consultation. If you are happy to proceed, we complete the registration process together and discuss a personal plan tailored to your individual needs. We can start walking or visiting your pet the very next day! All you need to do is get in touch.

What is the difference between a pet visiting and pet sitting service?

Pet visits are where we “pop in” to check on your pet, give them food and fresh water, change litter, replace bedding, let them out to relieve themselves and give them plenty of fuss and attention. These visits are usually around 30 minutes long. Please see our individual Services pages for more details.

Pet sitting is where we come and stay in your home – e.g. overnight or for a long weekend. Please note that we will be offering personalised pet and dog sitting for longer breaks in future, so please do get in touch with your requirements. We’ll always do our best to help out!

Do you provide a cat sitting service?

We love our furry feline friends! Generally, we feel that cats rarely require a 24-hour sitting service if you are on holiday – unless, of course, they are elderly or sick. We can visit up to 3 times a day – though most cats are fine with 2 visits/day. Please refer to our cat home visits page for more details, or get in touch to arrange a free consultation.

Do you provide Day Care and/or Overnight Boarding?

Unfortunately, we are not yet licensed to provide doggy day care or boarding in our home. But we are happy to personally recommend some fabulous local businesses and individuals.

How much do you charge?

Please see our Price List page for a list of the services we offer as standard. If you have any special requests, e.g. for dog sitting & pet sitting, please get in touch. We’ll always try and help.

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Southbourne and offer dog walking and pet visits in Southbourne, Tuckton, Wick, Christchurch, Mudeford, Boscombe East, Boscombe Manor, Iford, Charminster, Queens Park. Other areas may be considered, so please don’t hesitate to Contact Us.

Do you offer one-to-one walks?

Yes. Whilst many dogs have fun playing and interacting with other dogs, we appreciate that some dogs are more suited to our solo dog walks. That way we can give 1:1 attention to dogs with special needs e.g. nervous, young or mature dogs, and those recovering from illness or injury.

How many dogs are walked in a group?

We only ever walk a maximum of 4 dogs in a group. We don’t offer pack walks and we take great care to ensure dogs are grouped together by size, breed, age, sex and compatibility.

Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?

No. We are fully DBS checked (i.e. police-checked) and therefore our clients are happy to provide a spare set of keys or install a “Key Safe” on the outside of their property.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Furry Little Rascals dog walkers and pet carers are fully insured with Pet Business Insurance UK. Please ask to see a copy of our certificate. Nevertheless, we also require each individual dog in our care to be insured …. just in case.

What if I need to cancel a booking?

As a small business, we really appreciate it if our customers give us as much notice as possible. If you cancel a dog walk or pet visit less than 48 hours prior to the booking, you will be charged in full. Full Terms and Conditions of Payment & Cancellation are detailed in our Service Agreement.

How do I know my pet is doing ok?

After our walk or visit, we will always send you a brief update – often with a photograph – to reassure you that your pet is happy and content. We like to give you peace of mind, so you can get on with your day.

My pet needs medication. Can you assist?

We will always do our best to administer medication as per your written instructions. If your pet has an ongoing condition, we will discuss this during the initial consultation. If it is a short-term treatment, we will require your written permission to give medication, along with full instructions.

What happens in the case of an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will contact you immediately. We take all the emergency contact details we need when you register with us. If necessary, we will take your pet to your named vet or the closest possible vet, depending on the circumstances. We are trained to give basic (and often life-saving) first aid.

Do you walk female dogs that are in season?

Whilst we prefer not to, we will always try and help out. Under these circumstances, we will offer solo walks, on the lead and will try to exercise your dog in a quiet area away from other dogs. We cannot be held responsible should your dog become pregnant.

Alternatively, we are more than happy to visit your dog and play with her/exercise her in the garden. Please refer to our Dog Home Visits Page for more information.

Do you walk dogs off the lead?

Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is our top priority. While we’re getting to know your dog (and they’re getting to know us) we prefer to walk them on the lead. Once both we and your dog are comfortable with recall, we can offer off-lead walks. Please note, we only walk dogs off-lead if an appropriate consent form has been signed by yourself.

Do you walk all dog breeds?

We are happy to walk small – medium sized breeds who have been well socialised and not of an aggressive nature. If you have a particularly strong or large breed of dog, please get in touch with your requirements. That way we can ensure we have the right pet carer for your dog.

Do you give treats?

Naturally, we care about your pet’s health (and weight). We will discuss your preferences with you during our meet & greet. Generally, we offer treats for dogs as a recall incentive or to reinforce good behaviour. We can offer treats during pet visits, in accordance with your instructions. Please let us know if your pet has special dietary requirements/allergies.

Do I need to provide anything?

Please ensure your dog has a collar with ID tag. If you use a halti/head collar or harness, please ensure this is on hand for us to use. Similarly, if your dog requires a coat/cooling jacket, please make this available.

I have 2 dogs. Do you offer a discount?

Yes, we offer a discount for a second pet from the same household. Please refer to our Price List.

I have an exotic pet. Do you look after them too?

Many exotics require special handling, feeding etc. but we feel that following a little training and some detailed information from you, we will be able to help. Please get in touch with your requirements and we’ll give you call back.

Do you offer your services on weekends and bank holidays?

We offer a dog walking service Monday – Friday 8.00 – 18.00 and on Saturdays 8.00 – 14.00.
However, if you have to change your plans at the last minute, we will always try and help out.
